Ge-BAC offers support services to e-Business standards development organizations, user groups and large organizations in the roles of facilitators, project editors, modelers and instructors. For example, the application of the Business and Information Modeling requires professional facilitators and modelers to progress the implementation of such standards as the UMM/BCF within UN/CEFACT working groups in a timely manner. Regional standards bodies as well lack expertise in applying BCF standards to committed projects.
International and regional standards bodies currently both operate as "volunteer based" organizations that are subject to the fluctuating availability of qualified personnel and their respective contributions. Current procedures provide no overarching, open and accountable funding mechanism to support modernization and expansion of operations. All initiatives must rely on contributions from the working membership or completely uncoordinated offerings from interested organizations. Additionally, existing standards development policy and regulations regarding funds administration, contributions-in-kind, and branding, although well intended and oriented toward overall operating policy and neutrality, tend to be somewhat cumbersome and not well suited to meet the evolving dynamics needed to dramatically alter management practices. Ge-BAC provides resources that are needed to fill this void.
